Negligent hiring lawsuit follows horrific offenses (2004)
One could reason that if an employee does something far beyond what an employer could have predicted even if they had done a thorough background check,
that whether or not they did a thorough background check would not matter. However, that is not the reason that is used to bring suit against employers,
nor that used to award large judgments. The following case is a very disturbing case, but as employers, we periodically owe it to
our companies to look squarely at what has happened and in that light, make sure we are making appropriate business decisions for our company.
